| Innovative Solutions for Green Technology Green Duck Energy Solutions, Inc. Greater Mankato Growth December 2008 Newsletter There have been amazing advancements in renewable technology; however the t echnology alone is not always the solution. Green Duck Energy Solutions is comprised of a business attorney, electrician, mechanic and sales professional, found this to be true while trying to create an energy solution for one of their homes. "We knew that solutions were out there, but they were far from easy to locate, understand or employ," states Greg Hawkinson, CEO of Green Duck. This inspired the group to explore solutions that work using existing wind and solar energy products. The team made strategic alliances with several manufactures including PowerFilm Solar, Ventera Wind Generators, Interstate Batteries, to mention a few. Through these partnerships, Green Duck Energy Solutions is able to take these innovative technologies to design solutions that work in the 'real world'. An example of their solutions includes a solar powered golf cart. Using light, thin film solar panels manufactured by PowerFilm and coupling it with a specially designed charge controller that works with the existing batteries; Green Duck Energy Solutions is able to eliminate the need for charging an electric golf cart from conventional electric sources.Green Duck is also working with the City of Mankato to develop a cost effective lighting solution using solar energy for bus shelters. Currently, Mankato’s bus shelters are not lit because of the cost of running electricity to them; however with the help of Green Duck Energy Solutions, the bus stop will be a safer area to wait once the project is complete. Green Duck is collaborating closely with Minnesota State University, Mankato, the City of Mankato and many other valuable business-building resources to create renewable energy solutions right in our very own back yard!
